Meet Ms. Schilling
I am so excited to teach at Owatonna Junior High this school year. This will be my second year at OJHS and 8th in my teaching career.
I am originally from Rochester, MN and a John Marshal High graduate. I earned my teaching degree in 2007 from the University of MN-Duluth in Elementary Education and Middle School Science. I then found myself in Adams, MN (population of 800) teaching science to grades five through eight at Sacred Heart Catholic School beginning in 2009. I was given so many opportunities to teach hands-on activities, making science very exciting, and worked to implement STEM education in both a small class setting and large 5-8 multiage projects. During my time there, I completed my Master's degree through Hamline University, graduating in August 2014 with a Master's in Natural Sciences and Environmental Education. For the 2014-2015 school year, I was hired as a 4/5 teacher at Nerstrand Elementary which brought me to Owatonna as a resident. After missing the middle school science classroom, I decided I needed to return to it and what better school that Owatonna Junior High!
When I'm not in the classroom I can be found biking local trails, visiting friends or family, working on a sewing or crocheting project, or spoiling my rabbit, Merida.
